Walt, It is important to have the weights of the two size fractions. Then you calculate the weighted average of the assays of the +150# and the -150# to get the best estimate of the gold content of the sample. Usually the lab will fire assay the entire +150# fraction thereby capturing all the coarse gold. In these southern parts we call them screened fire assays but I believe you call them total gold. They are more expensive because of more intense sample preparation and two gold determinations per sample. Cheers, Junaidi.
