I think Obama was afraid of filibusters. I would have tried a few and forced Reid to let them run their course. Then we would see how many of those ancient Republicans died or were hospitalized trying to prevent democracy from coming to the USA. But Obama wants everyone to like him, which means he is making the majority dislike him.
