Lots to type..so little time!!!!
Well, from what I was told, Ultrak has about 8% market share, which at first surprised me.I would have thought they had a little more BUT (and I do mean a big BUT) Dell computer started out small too, and now they have leapfrogged all of their competitors and CONTINUE to gain market share with each passing day.I mean, how many of us thought that Dell was going to be where they are now and continue to grow so quickly year after year? In my eyes, Ultrak is going nowhere, but UP. I think in a previous message I posted I was told my IR that no one had more than 10 or 15 % market share in the industry which tell me that this market is really fragmented (that's more good news).
Ok, next subject.I saw on CNBC tonite that there has been a lot of interest all of a sudden with respect to surveillance equipment for the home. Especially after the tragic death of the young baby which everyone knows about. According to the report, CNBC said that the industry is expect to triple within the next few years and is only in its INFANCY right now (that is exactly how they said it). While there was no specific mention of Ultrak there was not a real specific of any list of companies. The world is filled with a lot of crazy people, we all know this. Just think how much more money these retailers could be announcing, I think I saw something like 2% of retail sales are lost every year..while that may seem like a small number think about all those big retailers that have a few billion in sales and your are looking at a systems well WORTH using to grab those dollars and keep them in the retailers pocket..and not to mention all these slip and fall idiots that should have their heads examined resulting in fake claims that cost YOU AND ME!!!!!!!
I recently found a copy of Ultrak's 1995 annual report (under a huge pile of stuff). Anyway, I flipped through it and found a little blurb about one of these products, named aprropriately.Baby Cam
"In 1995 Ultrak was the first company to introduce a wireless observation system, Baby Cam designed for monitoring babies and children. The system consisting of a small camera with a built in microphone that transmits image and sound to a lightweight portable monitor at a frequency of 900 mhz is superior in quality an design to all competitive products that have since been introduced in the market place. " (I found out the list price is $286.00)
I was also able to get my hands on a dealer's catalog and found that Ultrak does in fact have COVERT CAMERA LINE..these cameras include a line of black and white or color board cameras mounted in unique housings. They are built around a 3.6mm pinhole lens. The cases to choose from include a non functional Honeywell thermostat housing, and a johnson controls thermostat housing.
There is just so much information to absorb about this company and I would like to continue to share it with the group, we should all be able to profit from this company's success. What's even more amazing is that the company is going to be announcing a whole bunch of new products over the next six months.
As time permits I will try to continue to post more information. I am glad to see that I have sparked some interest and helped to awaken what people in a few years may call the next sleeping giant..
