Believe it or not Eric, I'm not an ignorant fool who can't see the obvious. What I am asking for from you is an objective overview of the tradeoffs with solar and wind power. I'm not asking you to compare to fossil fuels. I want to see if you have given any real thought to the cons of green energy sources.

Getting rid of pollution from fossil fuels may not be such a great deal if you get another form of toxic waste from a green energy source.

You saying that there is a lower impact on the environment doesn't mean that it is necessarily so. Let's see some real thought given to your position.

Have you or anyone given any thought to how solar panels may impact the climate? Yes, I am serious. If you can say that a small increase in a trace gas can have dramatic impact on the global temperature it is fair to ask what happens when heat energy from the sun is absorbed and converted to electric energy. Show me that we aren't swapping global warming for global cooling.

What happens when we disrupt wind patterns to convert that energy to electricity? Will we be creating deserts? Or will we be destroying deserts? Will it change the climate in any way? Show me that you have given any thought beyond "wind turbines will cover such a small fraction of the landscape that it can't really make a difference". Afterall, the amount of manmade CO2 is only about 2% of the total atmospheric CO2 that exists.

Hydroelectric is the best of the anti-fossil fuels out there. Try to convince me that there is no environmental impact from hydroelectric energy capture.

I'm not sold on the idea that I am not trading one environmental impact for another different, but just as negative environmental impact.

And at least fossil fuels are reliable.
