I'm not kidding that the jury is out. There are some who believe that oil is far more abundant than was previously thought. I don't know that it is or that it is not. Hence the jury is out comment.

There is some evidence that oil formation can be directly related to subduction zones and is a constant process. And there is a massive amount of organic detritous being subducted every minute of every day of every year. The other place where oil is being formed is where continents are colliding

Is it enough? I don't know. Again, that's why the jury is still out. But it certainly isn't an idea that I am pulling out of thin air. Go ahead, google "subduction zone oil"...you'll find more than one article that suggests that oil reservoirs are being replenished.
