Gartner analyst's claimed that "Consumer mobile PC demand, driven by low-priced notebooks, including mini-notebooks, slowed after very strong growth the past two years." The firm added that "media tablet hype around devices such as the iPad has also affected consumer notebook growth by delaying some PC purchases, especially in the US consumer market." But then yesterday Apple's iPad business posted a huge miss -- what now?

500 000 units @ $400 would be around $200 million; Intel fell short $100 million in meeting the low end of guidance given back in mid July.
The I phone did great - but RIMM did well too six weeks ago or so.
Several months ago analysts started touting weakness in smart phone area.
Looks like Gaertner and some other analyst have a hard time lately in making predictions...and again DT reiterated that foundries (TSM and UMC) will be fully utilized @ 12 inch
