Years ago when I had knee surgery and was in rehab for
the recovery period a woman was being treated for paralysis
of the side of her face.

She had Lyme disease. I lived on L.I. where disease carrying ticks were prolific. This tick had gotten into the woman's pubic hair and it went undiscovered.

From friends who have had the disease this advice.

When in the woods have pants that are tight fitting around the ankles. Also take all your clothing and throw it in the dryer
for about five minutes as it will dislodge ticks that might be sticking to you.

Two friends have been seriously ill from this disease they
got at the Jersey Shore.. AND they have disabling illness including mind problems... memory etc.

Yes you are so right. More attention should be paid.
And animals can get it too.
