Ken,

First, type the entire text into a new document. Then select part of the text that you want to have a column width of 5-1/8 inches and use File / Page Setup. On the Margins tab, increase the left and right margins to 1.6875 (for 8 1/2 wide paper). On the same tab, select "This Section" in the "Apply to" drop down box. Then click on OK.

Then select the section that you want to be columns wide and select Format / Columns. Select the Preset of Two columns and select "This Section" in the "Apply to" drop down box. Then Click on OK.

You might have to add a few blank lines between the top section and the bottom section, but if you play with it, you should be able to get the desired effect.

If that doesn't work, you can try to insert a 1 column, 1 row table at the top of the page and a 2 column 1 row table at the bottom of the page. Then enter your text where you want it to appear.

NOTE: It is best to do these changes in the Print Layout view - Select View / Print Layout.

Hope this helps.

B.K.
