that is a really good list of advice.

For example: Mutual Fund Traders' Weaknesses: Has to focus on short terms numbers; has to follow the charter even when it is clearly a mistake; measures self against peers and so will not take bold chances unless desperate; etc..

I remember in 2000 arguing against buying index funds AT THAT TIME because "they hold too much Cisco".... with my own portfolio I did much better taking profits in tech and buying value stocks, bonds, etc. with some of the profits.

The index funds HAVE to stick to cap weight so they have troubles at the extremes. I still like them for core holdings if purchased when the markets are low... but there really are times they are way out of whack.
