I guess the crux is that the folks that suffered for that benefit are not the ones that benefited. The ones that benefited did so simply because of legacy institutions.. after the masters were tossed..

I would agree completely that if the VV had gone forth with the ideal of promulgating democracy for the benefit of the indigenous ... they would be saints :O)

essentially owe their unique freedom to GB. after the British were removed of course... prior their unique freedoms were rather unrealised :O)

Maybe those folks were just smart enough to learn... sounds a lot like the US tossing out the British..

Yes many other countries in the world were the victims of dominators that set poor examples to live up to..
