Gary, you suggested a means to find out "true" value of ASND. Go to livingston.com and you'll find that company has 200 people. ASND has currently about 800 people? So let's assume Livingston's sales rev. is 1/4 of that of ASND, i.e., 250 million dollars, thus, LU paid <3 times sales (with cash). So maybe ASND's market value is $17/share (cash, hello GTE?).

LU's purchase means it didn't want to buy ASND or can't afford ASND now. If it has no plan to buy ASND after July, 1998, then very likely LU is ASND's strongest competitor. I guess the market has figured that out and punished ASND accordingly.
