"Public employees better-educated, more skilled, earn less"
My story. olden daze. In '77, I went from being a staff respiratory therapist at Stanford, (not even a relief shift supervisor), to being the boss at the VA. My salary stayed the same; might have dropped a few bucks.. When I left in '86, despite being at the top of the scale, with a high cost of living area bonus or 2, I was making 38K. Closest peer to me was making 43K. I had an MS in respiratory physiology, 10 years in the position, and was RRT (registered, comparable to RN). Gary had an AA, 2 years in the position, and was only certified, = to LVN. I think the highest salary was $100K at Stanfurd. |
