Longnshort, I know plenty of honest teachers at or around my age. Most of them are put through the grinder, and the honest ones are forced out. Those who remain are either driven by politics, or they are driven by their love of the profession that forces them to tolerate said politics.

No, I blame the teachers unions who are responsible for creating a backwards working environment. Teaching well can sometimes be rewarding, but more often than not, just being in the profession for years can be more rewarding regardless of how poorly you actually teach.

And that's all because the unions just want to protect their power base, i.e. the old guard career liberal politicians.
