We're talking about a plane that is being assembled all over the world by different companies from all over the world. Parts are getting shipped thousands of miles. Its the craziest thing I've ever heard Do you think maybe it sounds crazy to you because you don't understand it, not because it is in fact crazy? What do you know about JIT inventories, carbon fiber, or transportation (which Boeing is handling much of with its own planes) of these completed items? In fact, some of the delays (like software problems) cannot logically be related at all to where the development is occurring. Many of the problems have been caused by incorrectly designed parts, which have nothing to do with where they are manufactured. One delay was due to a problem at Rolls-Royce, which has long been a supplier of jet engines all over the world. I'm not saying it has NOTHING to do with the delays, but delays in building new aircraft designs are nothing new -- to Boeing or any other manufacturer. It is part of the process. To blame it all on the distributed manufacturing of the 787 is not justifiable at this point.
