Nikon Precision will invest about 800 billion yen (about $680 million) to expand its manufacturing facility at Kumayaga, Japan, as part of its effort to prepare for the next upturn in stepper business. The Kumayaga factory is now fully dedicated to deep UV production, with the i-line work having been shifted to the Tochigi Nihon subsidiary. Following the expansion at Kumayaga, Nikon will be able to produce about 1000 units/year -- 500 each of i-line and deep UV.
