That I understand. We are talking small parts....packaging and shipping them is not that big deal. With Boeing, we are talking wings built in one country, the fuselage in another, the tail in still another. Then these big pieces are shipped mostly by boat from all over the world to Seattle. INTC is shipping parts by plane and gets overnite service. Imagine shipping wings from Japan or Italy to Seattle by boat. It takes forever. And the logistics are far more complicated.

There are challenges even for small parts, and often they are not about shipping...it's usually logistics and cost.

I don't know the particulars of the boeing problem...but I am guessing that shipping plays a minor role...often it's hard to know without being in the bowels of the companies.

They have one concern and one concern only......their bottom line. And people like Ten and inode and the rest of the wingers defend them ad nauseum.

And that's the way it should be...the problem is the board and CEO are measured by quarterly results, rather than long term goals...to cope with that enormous pressure they often take steps that are enabling competition from abroad. It's not an easy problem, but it is one of the most important facing us now...that and the mass migration of manufacturing to China and other slave wage regions....until these countries' standard of living rises and their governments are pressured into fair trade policies, the playing field is slanted in their favor...and the damage to the US is palpable and severe.
