My wife's an escrow officer. During the hysteria, she often wanted to take people by the shoulders and shake them and tell them, "Can't you see that you can't afford this?" As a supposed disinterested 3rd party, she couldn't do that. Her job is merely to see that papers are in order. But all too often these borrowers had to know what they were doing, or should have, given their professions and levels of education. It was not all low income, uneducated suckers who were caught up in the system. It was an awful lot of players who got caught without a chair when the music stopped. And this includes developers, too.

...no sympathy from me.
