Doesn't work. You need an open window of typeface that you can insert a URL into. I will give you an example with a mistake in it so that it doesn't close up here

I take a HTML open in the window [url][/uxl][tag]Link[/tag]

and insert a URL [url]http://www.slate.com/?id=3944&qp=28709[/uxl][tag]Link[/tag]

and, without the mistake, get a Link

Much faster than typing the whole thing out every time.
