Those "shoulds" don't work out all that well in practice.

I have found that when politics is involved, there's very little respectfulness in the mix- at least when opposing political sides collide. And I suspect that's just the way it's going to be. I doubt you're alone, but I don't know how you make yourself (at least if you are me) respect people who appear to be lying provocateurs or champions of idiocy. There's just no way to make that happen. I can no more make myself respect Angle, or O'Donnel (and the folks who follow them), or respect folks sucking down the government bennies but seeking "less" government, than I can make myself believe in little green men from the Emerald Isle.

Now I realize the folks who call me traitor, for God knows what reason, probably feel the same way- which is why I make zero effort to engage them. I go only to the very few threads where people I like hang out. Why people follow around people they clearly despise has always puzzled me. Respect isn't something you can give to people if you just don't have it. IMO the best you can do is ignore- I generally go that route.
