Hard to do when the idea that America is not omnipotent, unique and deserving of sole global leadership is complete anathema to maybe 40% of the electorate and all the politicians they put in office every two years, maybe more. The only way Joe SP will finally figure it out is when other world powers just start shutting us out from major affairs. We will be screaming that we deserve to call the tune and they will just stop listening, since we are too broke and internally paralyzed with our own squabbles to bother with. I don't see us breaking out of that paradigm at all. Far too much cultural entrenchment behind it.
