Business Wire - November 11, 1997 09:08 AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1997--
New System Provides Unparalleled
Connectivity for SCSI Devices
Crossroads Systems, Inc., developer of high performance Storage Networking solutions, announced today the shipment of its CrossPoint 4100 Fibre Channel-to-SCSI router, the first in a family of Fibre Channel Routers. The CrossPoint 4100 enables customers to implement Fibre Channel Storage Networks while maintaining their investment in SCSI.
As the first product available in the CrossPoint 4000 Family of Fibre Channel to SCSI Routers, the CrossPoint 4100 provides connectivity between a Fibre Channel Storage Network and a single fast, wide or ultra SCSI bus. Bi-directional connectivity is supported, allowing the CrossPoint 4100 to connect SCSI host systems to Fibre Channel Storage subsystems, or to connect Fibre Channel Storage Networks to SCSI devices.
"The CrossPoint 4100 allows users to start taking advantage of the superior characteristics of storage networks today," said Brian Smith, CEO of Crossroads Systems. "Our CrossPoint 4100 Router is designed to help customers migrate up to systems-independent storage networks for higher availability and flexibility. In addition, the longer distances provided by the CrossPoint 4100 enables advanced storage management techniques, such as remote mirroring and centralized backup."
Customer Applications
The CrossPoint 4100 can be used to:
-- Connect one or more servers to multiple SCSI devices (up to 10,000 meters away) -- Integrate SCSI tape backup integration with Fibre Channel disk or RAID subsystems -- Access Fibre Channel Storage Networks from SCSI-based servers -- Consolidate server storage resources -- Centralize backup of heterogeneous systems
CrossPoint 4100 Highlights
-- 100 MB/sec Fibre Channel port (1062.5 Mb/sec) -- Auto negotiating SCSI bus (Fast, Wide, Ultra; Differential or Single Ended) -- Copper or fiber optic media -- Distances up to 10,000 meters -- SCSI throughput performance in excess of 35 Mbytes a second on Ultra SCSI -- SNMP management through Ethernet port
Availability
The CrossPoint 4100 is shipping to Crossroads' OEMs today and is also available to others worldwide through Crossroads' Master Distributor ADIC (Advanced Digital Information Corporation).
