Congress went home until Thursday without finishing all business.

It seems the appropriations bills will have to wait a couple more days. The House didn't finish up, and it looks like (no direct discussion in the press that I found) that the appropriations bills -- the basic business to be conducted -- were not passed yet. Patience, but not too much of it, is required now.

By the way, in the old days before SI, I used to live in an apartment in view of the Capitol dome. Wouldn't have had to scan the papers or the net to see if Congress were still meeting. Just look out my window to see if the light in the dome were still on. (I used to think of it as the national night light.)

Buck, that Japan exclusion is interesting, and I hope you're right, but NEC is also a Japanese company, so maybe they have their own independent reasons. Whatever they may be.
