I have felt the same way and the idiocy of voters in California, Nevada, New York and New England is truly astounding. Voters in states that are in failure apparently feel that re-electing long-standing representatives and senators will get them a better deal on a Federal bailout. My hope is that the Republican House will insist on either no bailouts or impose stringent requirements for any aid given. Accountability should be imposed on the voters of those states for electing irresponsible politicians.

The insanity of bailouts for investment banks, other companies and states without punishment (legal or otherwise) of the leaders involved is immoral and destructive to future accountability. Perhaps any bailout should be conditioned on all politicians of a given state/locality being removed from office (and banned from any future elected positions), with new elections, upon receipt of aid.

I agree that even with the House victory, we are pretty screwed economically. However, I believe that the economy and government finances may become so bad that certain more responsible states will attempt to withdraw from the Union. Such responsibly run states will feel that they should not have to shoulder the burdens of the irresponsibles as it will be destructive to what they are trying to preserve. To remain in this country may require moving to such states.

We are truly in extraordinary times and yesterday's results only go a small way to turning things around. Without bringing the irresponsibles to account, this may truly become an unlivable country.
