In 1980 or so when Mitterand took office, I spent a lot of time with some conservative french people in the leather business. Their analysis was that with the socialists now in total control, there would not be paralysis and the government would have to act to solve its fiscal and monetary problems. These actions would require the government to do the things which the conservatives had been trying to get done for many years. The French government tried to stop currency and asset withdrawal to Switz and other places i.e. and raise taxes but had to reverse itself on all these matters. So could this be the result of the elections in California and other such places including the Fed Gov?
