Besides making a big dent in the civilian force of the DOD, I would make a noticeable slash in Energy, Education, EPA, Interior, Commerce, Labor, HHS, HUD and Justice. I can hear the whining now on how the people's work won't get down. I don't believe it. Some of these cuts can come from holding the line on hiring, salaries, contract management and the bonus programs.

I would find a way to reduce the presidential power to add an endless array of Czars at who knows what salary.

There is a pot of money in the Grant programs, NPR etc.

There is another pot of money in our contributions to the UN etc.

Everything should come under the knife with the exception of direct support to our combat forces.

Some of these cuts would be more symbolic than big dollar numbers. However, any cuts would be welcomed by the general public if it resulted in less taxation to the wage earner.

Obama has shown us how to spend money and will continue to do so if left unchecked by Congress.

This new Congress must lead the effort to reduce expenditures and return to budgets levels of several years back.

They need to walk the talk. Otherwise, we must make them "famous".
