Mang, as a non-tech person, trying to understand the barrage of new products in the network arena had been giving me a perpectual handache for the last six months.

I wanted to ask your (and others) opinion on this observation.

At one time, is it true that the big four in networking each have their strength and weakness in certain segments. Through time, they are encroaching in each others niche, not to mention Intel, NN, Fore and numerous others that are chipping away here and there.

Are network products quickly becoming commoditized just like the semis? There seem to be no problem with production capacity so price cuts would eventually be even more severe. This sector had enjoyed a pretty attractive profit margin. Can this be sustained?

The DD market took a big hit recently. Is the network group next?

Comments appreciated.
