Les, Hess confirms what Barry said.
the building shook, lights out, rushing air... Hess assumed an explosion and then stated very clearly he still had the visibility to see papers and such flying around after he had the time to get back to the window.
this wasn't true AFTER the the first building had collapsed - and i'm sure you've seen that pyroclastic cloud that engulfed everything and cut down visibility.
he's quibbling with terminology - he didn't hear "explosions" he just felt explosions that shake buildings, cut the lights and cause rushing air and the sprinklers to come on... yet still had detailed visibility after calming down and taking the time to get back to the 8th floor and look outside..

shortly before 9:03 AM, Hess an Jennings head up to the 23rd floor, they find it empty, Jennings makes a few calls and they are told to leave and start to leave.
The building shakes, the lights go off, a giant rush of air occurs and their path out of the building is blocked - not more than 30 minutes is likely to have passed since they went up to the 23rd floor.
that puts the timing around 9:30 am or so.
~9:59 -(a full 30 minutes after Barry and Hess narrative described WTC as "shaking" the air "rushing" and the sprinklers going off, warning is given that the tower was going to collapse and people should evacuate...
~ 9:59 reports of explosions and smoke and the ground shakes prior to the south tower collapse (what explodes and creates a violent event caused the ground to shake???)...
~ 9:59 - guiliani told that WTC buildings would collapse by someone "in the know" that didn't include any fire fighters.

...more than a full hour after jennings and hess went up to the 23rd floor, observed nobody, made a few calls to find out why nobody was there, were told to leave and tried to leave before some event rocked WTC to its foundation.
barry's time line makes perfect sense. hess essentially confirms it and offer ZERO INDICATION he and barry were in WTC7 for more than an hour before trying to leave.
the body's on the floor issue is a completely different issue and not relevant here at all. the fire fighter said don't look down and barry assumed it was because of dead bodies without every actually seeing dead bodies.
by barry's own account he doesn't know what's there, he just knows what it felt like as he was stepping over "something."
Barry's account isn't diminished by Hess' statement, it is pretty much confirmed.

so, back to the original question, what caused WTC7 to quake, what caused that rush of air, what caused the lights to go out and what caused that stairwell to collapse BEFORE either tower fell?
if you think this isn't accurate, explain with evidence what barry and hess did for an hour after they realized that WTC7 was evacuated.
neither men indicate it was half that long before they tried to leave and a WTC blew up to its first 6 floors (as the lobbies of the other WTC buildings were exploding, too).

all the residue on these firefighters was from the lobby explosions - this was filmed before the towers had collapsed.
