I would expect HK to stay within the rule of law and be personally safe much longer than some resort island in Thailand.

If Singapore can beat back the jungle to create a modern city sate, I expect that HK can fight to hold on to a high level of civilization.

Besides, you would miss out on the immense fun as capital and collector art, watches, etc, swirl through HK.
