As one with little technical knowledge, I may be off-base, but I have some ideas about why SanDisk hasn't been "discovered" by the big institutional investors.

1. People still worry about any David taking on Goliath (Intel). IMHO, most people believe that Intel will simply gobble up the market once it sees it's worthwhile. The fact that Goliath's technology may not be as good as a slingshot doesn't alter perceptions.

The Market will really notice SNDK when its sales start to grow dramatically, i.e., when people start to believe that SNDK's flash technology is for real. When the sales spurt begins, (again IMHO!), the stock price will start to soar.

2. The float is small and that probably makes them worry about the ability to get in and out quickly if they need to.
