dinner last night: dozers (it's a florida lobster tail) and grilled filet, served with tomato, basil, mozzarella salad with pomegranate balsamic. Perfect wine, at least to our guests (some who are le bec fin): 2001 Castello Banfi Excelsus Sant'Antimo. One word for this cabernet/merlot from a famous sangiovese house: fabulous. Some of the descriptions at table were more like a great Burgundy. Maybe one of the experts here can tell me why. 9 years I think was just about right for this wine. I don't usually cellar wines for long. Doesn't make sense here in steamy SW Florida but I love the wines from Castello Banfi.
