NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Goldman, Sachs & Co. upgraded Rockwell International Corp. to its U.S. recommended list from a "market outperformer" rating.

In a research note Tuesday, the brokerage firm said it reduced its earnings estimate for fiscal 1998 ending September to $3.25 a share from $3.40 to reflect Rockwell's "continued semiconductor problems."

However, Goldman said it believes investors are "overly concerned" with Rockwell's (ROK) semiconductor business and are overlooking value in the electronics giant's other units.

The firm also said it believes investors have overlooked Rockwell's continuing repurchase of stock.

I agree. The semiconductor group may be a dog, but the other units have some real value.
