Yeah, I saw some of that too. Sadly, that has become so commonplace that I almost ignore it. Similarly, the attempts at lying and cheating after every other ref's call or lack of one favoring the players' teams have reached the point of theater in the absurd.

Good sportsmanship isn't what it used to be decades ago. Still it seems to me that the Hokies in particular are so much better than a few years ago I no longer feel the need to root against them at times.

Of course the Miami Hurricanes had the ultimate thug rep and last week I heard an ESPN analyst worrying that they have lost the killer instinct needed to competitive. That is just so wrong on so many levels.

The effort being put into trying to injure players with legal hits has reached the point where NFL players are penalized for what look like normal "part-of-football" hits to me. And they are praised for locomotive helmet spears to the thigh that knock a player out for the game without violating the rules.

I am afraid we will end up with players dressed like the Michelin man with a giant marshmallow surrounding his helmet.
