Not the type of 'poll' that I think of.

I call a 'poll' a scientifically-selected sub-set of a larger target population, designed to suss out attitudes of the larger target population via use of standard statistical sampling methodologies.

(While an election is where people register their votes. A scheduled way point on the road of Democracy.... Voting is self-selected not randomly.)
