San Francisco City Government Outspends Exxon on Climate Advocacy

coyoteblog.com

Not that I care too much about the source of the money promoting an argument, I care more about the quality of the argument. But if your going to consider sources, you have the fact that much of the money going to promote devoting more resources to the global warming issue, either comes from or through groups with an environmental agenda (and thus just as biased, if not more so, than the energy companies), or through the government (with the government spending tax money, either directly to promote an agenda, or on people or organizations who then use some of it to lobby for more money).

I don't think such sources of funding amount to any counter argument. They aren't directly relevant to the issue of "Is the Earth warming and why?", or "How much of a problem is climate change and what's the best response to it?". But they are problematic in a way a company voluntarily spending money out of its own profits is not. I don't want my tax money to go to rent seeking for more tax money.
