I cut my teeth on Clarke and Asimov ... and the exuberant space opera of "Doc" Smith. Then I found Larry Niven, especially the short stories as compiled in "Neutron Star". Novels: I seriously liked "The Mote in God's Eye" and "Footfall". Greg Bear, David Brin, Lois Bujold, Stephen Baxter ... I'll read anything from the B-Hive, often more than once. Two of my favorite books ever are by Neal Stephenson, "Anathem" and "Cryptonomicon". Awesome brilliant. cheers js
