Despite what the GOP says, we are going to have higher taxes. That's the good side for munis. The bad side is that Treasury bond rates are going higher. So, I'm pretty neutral right now.

On a trading basis, it makes sense to buy a closed end bond fund on its ex date, as people pay too much to get the dividend soon and some sell in a panic as they see the price drop due to ex dividend date.
