"...not to put too fine a point on it, make-believe."

It's not too fine a point although it may be too much emphasis on a point. We use imagination as a fundamental method to encounter experience, to make meaning of it, to explore further, to create new endeavor and understanding, and to enrich our lives. Imagination is no less than the constructive use of our minds vision, where imagination is to the mind as sight is to the eye. Imagination looks beyond the horizon of the known. Religionism is as based on evidence as scientism is, where the tendency to lean into reason or conversely into fairy tale is no less attractive for devotees of either. Conscious consideration of principle and reason resolves the Folie à deux, where devotion to dogma forbids it.
