I don't buy it, but I'm not willing to get into an argument about it.

There's no argument. It's simply a fact. Do you have any life experiences to the contrary, i.e. people you knew who were active in a church but also raping and pillaging on the side, lol?

It's also a fact that religious organizations through their members do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to charity work. Both in money and time donated.

It's also a fact that religious people as a group don't hate and fear homosexuals. Those are not the emotions they feel. Out of all the school bullying that takes place against homosexuals, I'm willing to bet that not one bully in fifty is a kid who has an active, serious church life. Bullies are weak, predatory people who get some kind of sick enjoyment causing pain to others. That's just not the way most religious kids are wired.
