Not like Japan.

They've been subsidizing the development of electrics/hybrids for almost 40 years.

The same with bailouts.

Out of all the foreign automakers on the verge of bankruptcy, including Hyundai, Daewoo, Mazda, Isuzu, and many others, I can't think of any that were allowed to liquidate by their governments.
