Should we compare the great Depression of 1929 to Texas too? How about the financial crises of 1907?

I understand the comparison, but why is it that those who live beyond their means should be bailed out by more conservative countries? I'd go on a wild spending binge too if I thought you'd come along to bail me out. Somehow I suspect you would be reluctant to do that. Why?
