Anyone know anything about this speculation by Don Crabbe:

You Read It Here First
By the time you read this, it will all be over but the screaming. The die will be cast, the gamble taken, the stick stuck into the ground.
By the time you read this, Farallon Computing, makers of such quintessential networking products as the Netopia ISDN-to- Ethernet gateway and the EtherWave Ethernet extenders will have announced what they plan to do when they grow up!
Ha, fooled you, didn't Herr Krust?! You thought the Carapacious Reporter was going to tell you all about the big doings at Apple Computer. All about its big dog-and-pony show at the Flint Center at DeAnza College in Cupertino, California, at 11 a.m. today. But there is no need for that story, dear reader, since the Crustomaniac already spilled those beans last week!
(Hey babe, this is a gossip column. The Oracle at Shellphi and his Watery Minions never rest their claws in the continuous search for the hot news before it happens.)
Anyway, back to Farallon. While Apple is hogging the media's attention today, Farallon prez Alan Lefkof will be discussing the company's outlook with Crusty and other journalist types (note to Farallon PR: bad timing). But thanks again to the Watery Minions, you'll know ahead of time that Farallon is doing very, very well indeed. According to Lefkof, "We are pleased with our accomplishments this quarter. Our ISP partnerships continue to be an outstanding foundation for Netopia revenue growth. New contracts with Bell Atlantic, Northwest Nexus, and Epoch are excellent examples of momentum for the Netopia Internet routers. Over the next six months, we expect several of our ISP partners to offer the next version of Netopia Virtual Office software, which includes ISP hosting services."
To that end, Farallon will today be announcing a slew of new ISP partnerships and small intranet products designed to put the company in the driver's seat of the SOHO and small-business markets. One Farallonite even went so far as to say that "Farallon is going to merge with its largest ISP as part of these ventures." How surprising if that's true, The Crustacean opines--another ISP merging with another networking hardware company!
