"I have no idea what you are talking about and neither does anyone else"
Of course, you know. Fess up! She died March 6, 1982 and she was buried in Kensico Cemetery. Pretty hard to torture her now, wouldn't you say, Little Miss Bravery!
You claim to be a stalwart stanchion of moral turpitude--in the same exquisite breath as gleefully reporting the eternal torment and torture of Ayn Rand. You have often promised me the same treatment. What a wonderful human being you must be!
Do you compare your barbarian moral code to my civilized code?
You read Joshua; I read Spinoza.
You read Leviticus; I read Socrates.
You read Genesis; I read Ingersoll.
You read 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9, 2:8; Hebrews 10:28–29; 2 Peter 3:7; and all of Revelation; I read Emerson.
Which one of us is getting a better moral education??
If today, civilized and rational people do not believe heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed (Aquinas), it is not because we go more to those barbaric books of the bible but because we rely on the civilizing reason and compassion developed over centuries. Aquinas and Augustine knew more about morality in the bible than any 1000 scholars alive today--combined--and yet they believed (as only a fool would deny) in primitive, brutal, savage, and immoral acts.
You believe the tenth commandment of barbarian tribes: "Don't boil a baby goat in milk?" WHOOPIE! You really got one over on us atheists! You believe that those celebrated atrocities of the bible (and they were celebrated)--(the rapes, genocides, murders over "gathering sticks" to keep warm, the slavery, the stoning of innocent women--and thousands of others) give you a better guide to moral living than my poor reliance on great authors of wisdom and compassion? You think your tribal moral codes are somehow "superior" to my broad and encompassing moral visions for all of humankind and indeed all of Nature.
I guess that is why you don't know why I feel disgust and contempt toward you for flaunting your intoxicated vigor in attacking the dead. My teachers have left greatness and beauty and wisdom and values of compassion, justice, peace, and happiness in the world. Your teachers were barbarians. You are no better than the barbarians from whom you have stolen your moral values. |
