What is killing the U.S. Canada and Europe right now is the cost of entitlements, benefits and pensions that people are expecting. This money in many instances has been managed poorly and at some point the government comes in and makes it your problem with a bail out. The diminishing value of the money promised at some point won't cover the cost of a bus ticket to a soup kitchen. The people out there that are actually good managers have an option called running away. When enough people run away societal collapse sets in.
