Gerald, I think you nailed that one. Besides, noise is much more soothing than blue screen.

The point is, Java is only the beginning. Things will evolve, there will be other multiplatform languages. The important thing is that the industry may see real competition again, once consumers have a way to choose without being incompatible with everyone else.
