Thanks Jacob.

I've been thinking along similar lines, exiting Apple and putting some money into Alt Energy while the prices are low. Your generous post here clarifies my thinking.

Using the indexes to pick bottoms is a good tactic I think.

Vertical integration was a factor I hadn't factored in.

Actually with interest rates this low it might be smarter for them to borrow as much money as they can while rates are artificially low. If inflation heats up having a 4 or 5% loan is like making money free.

Like most I have been thinking that inflation is a no brainer. How can the Fed keep dumping printed money into the economy and keep interest rates low???

But the more I read and think... the more I suspect this may be an unprecedented economy. Interest rates are low but no one seems to be able to qualify for loans. (I've been reading a little Soros and his theories about governments "making mistakes" based on incorrect assumptions.)

There is a lot of speculation and money out there betting on inflation. It's the kind of money smart big guys like Soros love to confiscate.

It's really just a matter of time though, before energy prices spike again. When that happens if it lasts it WILL add to inflation, and cut corporate profit margins.

No doubt Alt Energy stocks will spike to absurd levels. The question is, as always, when? It could still be a ways away.
