From what I noticed it was a passing remark as part of a statement involving her Gaia hypothesis. I have just looked about the internet getting acquainted with her incredible reputation and her wonderful ideas and I find nothing controversial in terms of persons or rights or entitlement.

Her basic idea (as you perhaps know) is that evolution is a process of cooperation rather than competition. This makes so much sense when one considers that cooperation has always proven to be the rational and moral fuel of survival. How did we ever get so far off track with the evolution as competition thing?

I always sort of enjoyed Teilhard de Chardin and his Gaea ideas but his RC background put me off somewhat as well that his putting it under the aegis of "God" had no scientific basis. But this incredible biologist is knocking down these huge lines of intense and spirited and powerful detractors and bringing them into agreement. What do you think? I must start being nicer to my bacteria...to me, that is... :-)
