I think you are ignoring some splits.

$48 (pre- x16 splits) was also usually a good time to sell pre '99. Of course one day it hit $48 and just kept on going up, and up, and up... If you were short it was not a good time.

I buy/sell some trading shares now and then, but my heirs will be selling most of my QCOM.
