In the post to which I responded, you mentioned that black and Hispanic people were disproportionately likely to both pay no taxes and to receive government benefits. So I asked why that fact is significant. I mean, given the fact that a lot of white people are also poor and in the same boat, what does race even have to do with the question?

The vast majority of poor black people in this country are not illegal immigrants, unless I'm mistaken. And of course, not all poor Hispanic people are illegal, either.
