In case you didn't notice Arun, "the British were there" in tiny numbers with little influence though they could fund railways, introduce technology, science and common law, english and other benefits. <British were in India for 200+ years. They had plenty of time to get things right. But Indians have a way of non-cooperation with rulers, including the current ones. >
It's not really a burden to help them out of the gutter. It's fun and profitable. CDMA is now rolling out across India. They have not yet figured out that Globalstar is good [better than their corrupt government] but they'll get there. They use english rather than their local yokel lingo so they can even write stuff in SI, write software, work in call centres, and get a job working for me to get CDMA/OFDM going around the world.
India could do with a good dose of Virtuous Victorian Values. In fact some of them they have maintained better than the British who could do with a big dose too.

But I'm doing okay given my numbers. Heck, it's not just India I have to drag out of the gutter, it's China, Africa and Brazil too, not to mention holding the line in NZ. Meanwhile, the USA is threatening to go belly up and the PIGs of Europe have lost their VVV way.
