THIS WILL HELP>>>>>>>Premier Laser's Er:YAG Cited By Popular Science As One of Year's Best Technological Advances; First Laser Cleared by FDA for Teeth Procedures

IRVINE, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Nov. 11, 1997--Premier Laser Systems Inc. (NASDAQ NM:PLSIA) Tuesday announced that it has been selected as a winner of Popular Science Magazine's Tenth Anniversary "Best of What's New" Awards for 1997.

The award was presented today at a New York City luncheon sponsored by the magazine. As one of the 100 selected from literally thousands of new products, technological developments, and scientific achievements, Premier's Centauri Erbium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Er:YAG) laser system will be featured as part of a special 26-page editorial section highlighting the staff's picks.

The awards will be the cover story for Popular Science's December 1997 issue.

According to Premier Laser Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Colette Cozean, Ph.D.: "This prestigious award reflects not only technical excellence, but also the fact that Centuari has provided, for the first time in U.S. dental history, a decay removal and cavity preparation procedure that can eliminate pain, needles and anesthetic.

"It also helps save more of the patient's healthy tooth, significantly increases the bond-strength of the restoration and can reduce by twofold the time in the chair both for patient and practitioner. This revolutionary development is truly a 'popular' technology."

Premier Laser Systems develops, manufactures and markets several lines of proprietary medical lasers, fiber optic delivery systems and associated products for a variety of dental, opthalmic and surgical applications.
